More than anything, my cooking style has been inspired by the places I've traveled. When Justin and I studied in Rome during Spring 2008, we traveled all across Europe every weekend. Flying on cheap airlines and staying in rinky-dink hostels allowed us some wiggle room in our budgets for delicious food. In fact, we make it our mission to try the traditional foods of every place we go whenever possible.
Here are some stand-outs from our experiences:
Arugula salad with proscuitto, feta, corn and tomatoes, Rome |
Asparagus lasagna with béchamel, Rome |
Fried artichokes, Barcelona |
Jamon serrano (cured pork) on baguette, Seville |
Sepia a la plancha (grilled cuttlefish), Barcelona |
Enoteca (wine/tapa store), Spain |
The BEST croissants ever, Valencia |
Fried egg, potato and bacon sandwich, Malaga |
Salt cod croquettes, Almeria |
Pulpo a la Gallega (octopus with potatoes), Alicante |
Alachofas a la plancha (grilled artichokes), Alicante |
Churros con chocolate (donuts), Seville |
